People using the Car Scheme
Here are a couple of examples of the types of people that we can help –
Client A: This 77 year old gentleman living in Fort William has ongoing health problems resulting in mobility issues, and books 4 or 5 journeys per week. He regularly uses the car scheme to go to health centre appointments, where he attends both a clinic and sees the nurse on a weekly basis. He also uses the car scheme to go on shopping trips, where we help him out with assisted shops around the supermarket and also visiting the High Street. The car scheme allows him to stay in control of his own life without having to keep asking his family for help. It also enables him to stay in his own home, where he has lived for 44 years and doesn’t want to move away from.
Client B: lives 15 miles from Fort William. She is 87 years old and due to the distance she lives from a bus stop, is unable to access public transport. Once a week she travels into Fort William to visit her husband who is in a Care Home. Prior to registering with the car scheme, she was undertaking very expensive taxi trips to visit her husband, resulting in feelings of financial stress. Access to the Community Car Scheme has taken the stress out of her weekly journey and has made it easier to see her husband every week.
